My 10 Years old Yahoo account got closed without notice

Written by Betting-RSS admin on 09 April 2011.

Yes, it happened yesterday morning. Woke up to login to yahoo messenger and my password wouldn't work. I then tried to change it online but an error about not being able to do so and to contact customer service appeared.

I have sent an e-mail questioning what is happening and here is what i got:

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Asia.

Your Yahoo! account was disabled pursuant to the Yahoo! Terms of Service
(TOS). You agreed to abide by the TOS as a condition of using Yahoo!.
The TOS provides in relevant part:

"You agree that Yahoo, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or use of the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use or if Yahoo, in its sole opinion, believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS or that you are a repeat infringer of intellectual property rights. Yahoo may also in its sole discretion and

at any time discontinue providing the Service, or any part thereof, with or without notice, whether for selected or all Channels. You agree that any termination of your access to the Service under any provision of this TOS may be effected without prior notice, and acknowledge and agree that Yahoo may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all related information and files in your account and/or bar any further access to such files or the Service. Further, you agree that Yahoo shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to the Service."

If you would like to establish a new Yahoo! account and are concerned that your intended use of our service may be a violation of the TOS, we encourage you to review the TOS and to take care to proceed accordingly.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Asia.

That is 10 YEARS of e-mails. 10 YEARS of important contacts. 10 YEARS of services linked to that yahoo account.

As an advice, don't link anything important to a free e-mail account, or try using gmail for that. Now i will try everything possible to get at least the contact back.
