Add a commentATP Stockholm: Kevin Anderson vs. Tommy Haas
Fifth seed Kevin Anderson takes on former world number two Tommy Haas in the second round of the Stockholm Open.
Haas returned to the tour after a long injury layoff at the French Open earlier this year but the German has struggled to make an impact as his current ranking of 290 shows and he's still relying on wildcards for virtually every event he wants to enter and not every tour level tournament is that accomodating. Viktor Troicki takes on Spain's Pere Riba in the opening round of the Kremlin Cup on Wednesday.
Troicki has established himself in the world's top 20 this year and until a few weeks ago he still had an outside shot at reaching the ATP World Tour Finals but the Serb has seen those hopes evaporate with successive first round defeats in Tokyo and Shanghai. Add a commentATP Stockholm: Milos Raonic vs. Philipp Petzschner
Milos Raonic impressed in the opening round of the Stockholm Open and he takes on Philipp Petzschner on Wednesday for a place in the quarters.
Raonic's debut on the indoor circuit has been much anticipated after the fireworks he produced at the start of the year on the North American hard courts. He did not disappoint, smashing down 22 aces during a thrilling first round clash with Marcos Baghdatis. Add a commentTesting times for Rafael Nadal's nerves of steel
Rafael Nadal has been having a good year filled with ample wins. But then he has been missing the mark compared to his benchmarking performances in previous years. He has been losing to lower ranked players too and will be hoping to steer his way towards perfection yet again.
Known for his determined attitude of shifting to top gear of aggression under immense pressure and coming out on the winning side, Rafael Nadal has been snatching key wins on major stages for almost a decade now, but this year has been a little different. After his much expected and most awaited French Open title win this year, Nadal has been stretched and made to work hard for victories. Rafael Nadal will not compete at ATP Queens next year for the first time in many years due to UK tax restrictions.
Nadal beat Novak Djokovic to win the 2008 title but he has announced with regret that he has decided not to return to UK shores for another tilt next June.
Nadal has long professed his love for the Queens Club event, a tournament steeped in the sort of tennis history which Nadal admires so much and he has often described it as the perfect preparation for Wimbledon in the past. Add a commentKvitova victorious in Linz
Petra Kvitova has defeated Dominika Cibulkova in the final of this year’s Generali Ladies Linz Open.
Petra Kvitova claimed the sixth WTA title of her career on Sunday, winning the Generali Ladies Linz Open with a 6-4, 6-1 success against seventh seed Dominika Cibulkova.
