ATP Estoril – Saturday Preview
Del Potro Juan Martin vs. Cuevas Pablo
Juan Martin Del Potro defeated Robin Soderling for the fourth straight time in a rain-interrupted quarter-final clash at the Estoril Open.
The Swede after he lost the opening set he raised his game in the second and was 4-1 up before the match was interrupted by rain, but Del Potro made an immediate impact. Winning six of seven games he managed to bounce back against a Soderling who struggled to found his rhythm after the rain.
"My wrist is almost fine. It is getting better, but when the weather is really humid I can feel something. That is normal the doctors say. I am getting better, quicker than I thought," said the Argentine. He will meet Cuevas who continued his solid run beating Bellucci. It will be the first meeting between them and overall Cuevas looks in slight better form."I trained last week with Pablo Cuevas between Buenos Aires and here. I could not win a set with him in practise, so I know our match will be tough," commented Del Potro about his match against the Uruguayan. When Cuevas is switched on can be a tricky opponent, he can mix up on court a lot and start that from returning and the Argentine needs to be very solid on his serve, he had some downs against Soderling. Also he opens up well the angles especially against a player who has a wide reach and catches a lot of balls, he knows how to break the rhythm putting good drop shots and also making serve and volley while at the net has good hands being a good double player. Not an easy match for the Argentine, Cuevas looked impressive all week.
