Roland Garros Mens Picks 26.05.2011

Mardy Fish vs Robin Haase

Mardy Fish beat Ricardo Mello of Brazil to reach the second round of the French Open. Fish never has been past the French Open's second round and will have a difficult task against Haase.

It wasn’t a real trouble for the American against Mello, he was solid on serve and was a little bit unlucky not to take in three sets, he fired 12 aces and only 2 double faults wining 78% points behind the first serve. But the Dutchman was also solid on serve wining 80% points behind the serve and made only 15 unforced errors.

Both are tough servers but Haase is more used to play on clay, the American made a competitive match against Ljubicic last year in the second round losing with 10/8 in the fifth set but the conditions were a little bit fast while today light rains are expected, the Dutchman has a much suitable game for clay, he will punish the American at the net while from the back of the court will resist better in long rallies, Haase opens up the court better while Fish still relies too much on serve while he is a little bit impatient in long rallies.

Take Robin Haase to win @ 2.5 with Bwin (2.4/2.42 can be found @ betfair, 2.34 @ pinnaclesport)

Rafael Nadal vs Pablo Andujar

Rafael Nadal admitted he feared he might never break John Isner's serve after surviving a huge scare in the first round.

"I was close to going out. That's the thing", said a relieved Nadal.

But he has a good record in 5 sets and was necessarily to break Isner’s serve to break American confidence, but still Nadal wasn’t bad on his serve facing only one break point and he didn’t lost his serve.

He will meet for the first time Andujar who won a tight match against Giraldo. Andujar can be a tricky opponent but Nadal needs an easy win after his match against Isner.

Kevin Anderson vs Juan Igancio Chela

The Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela had little troubles in first round against Smyczek controlling the match from the back of the court, he made only 10 errors but also only 12 winners. But he was solid on serve landing 81% of first serve in and wining 71% points behind that. Anderson fired 22 aces and produced 64 winners in his win over Mahut but the Frenchman wasn’t on his favorite surface.

The match will be played in the night session and conditions are slower today, the Argentine needs to return well as he should take control from retrieving, Chela has a solid baseline display and will force Anderson to his another shot. Anderson has the power on his side while Chela has the consistency and experience on the surface.

I think Chela will be the winner but having in mind he had played a lot recently he might have to let down a set or even two and we could see a decider here.

Take Over 37.5 @ 1.85 with Betsson(Crapy limits) but 1.82 can be found with 12bet, gamebookers has this priced @ 1.8

Women tennis picks

Makarova - Larsson

Didn't see Makarova play. That is why I will bet half the stake on this one. I saw in Strasbourg Larsson against Hantuchova and I must say that I am impressed by the way she played. She has very powerful shots and her serve worked well. She lost the game because Hantuchova used only "moon balls" to make her do unforced errors, but overall Larsson played better. I am quite anoyed by the way the match ended. Back to the game, Larsson managed to dispose of Ana Ivanovic, not that this is something to brag about lately, Ana not being herself lately. She will have a good opponent in Makarova, but Larsson as an underdog is a must take.

Take Larsson to win @ 2.34 with Unibet(this being the highest) 2.23 @ Pinnaclesport, 2.25 @ Bet365

Petkovic - Hadrecka

This can be the surprise of the day surely. But for Hadrecka wouldn't be such a suprise. She has 3-0 H2H against german Petkovic and I might say that is impressive given the odds. Maybe she has a style of play unsuited for Petkovic. I watched Petkovic with Bojana in the last game. Bojana served to take the 2nd set when she was 5*-2, but lost incredibly the match letting Petkovic win the next 5 games in a row!! Stupid women choke if you ask me. The set was given on a plate. Hadrecka will not do this, she will go with high morale having in mind their history

Take Hadrecka to win @ 3.45 with Bwin, 3.33 with Pinnaclesport

Medina Garrigues - Gajdosova

Yesterday Gajdosova was underdog, but I have seen the odds late at night. I don't know how many of you could have catched them. Anyway, the odds are good, everything above 1.8 on Gajdosova is a must take. Medina is not a consistent player and she tends to lose the games against better players. Gajdosova is one of them. H2H 1-0 but the game was played years ago so we cannot make it count. Medina got past Dantoni 7-5 7-5, while Gajdosova also played with Dantoni 2 weeks ago and she won 6-2 6-1. Sincerily, Gajdosova is better and I see her as favourite.

Take Gajdosova to win @ 1.87 with Betcris (1.8 can still be found and it is OK at many other bookmakers: http://www.oddsportal.com/tennis/france/wta-roland-garros/medina-garrigues-anabel-gajdosova-jarmila-722805/#home-away;2 )
