ATP Queen’s – Men’s Saturday Preview

Written by Diana on 11 June 2011.

Andy Roddick vs. Andy Murray

Andy Murray advanced to the semi-finals of the Aegon Championships benefiting by a walkover because of Marin Cilic's withdrawal with an injured ankle.

A positive thing for Murray to rest his ankle before a tough match. Roddick advance after he won easily against Verdasco but the match might be a misleading as the American didn’t looked too sharp all week and escaped through his serve. Verdasco made a lot of errors on court, he was without rhythm and even missed on easy shots making things easier for Roddick. They know each other game well and Murray wants to test himself and win after he lost to Roddick back in 2009 in semi-finals at Wimbledon.

The surface isn’t that fast and light rain is expected once more, Murray showed a lot of desire here and with his good returns will negate the most important weapon of the American, serve, while on the ground looks tougher from the back of the court.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. James Ward

It will be a dream final if Murray will win in first semi-finals and Ward will continue his good run here and will beat Tsonga.

Ward played 2 matches yesterday, he finished the match with Querrey and then beat Mannarino to advance in his first semi-finals in ATP level. He stayed more then 2 hours on court to beat Frenchman and he struggled to close out the match in second set and was pushed to a tie-break.

The Britt was pushed from behind by a passionate crowd and with the perspective of playing with Murray will be once more hugely supported but Tsonga showed a solid form and comes with a high morale here after he managed to beat Nadal.

The Frenchman fired down 25 aces and his serve worked well here, with his powerful serve will earn a lot of free points and also hit with a lot of power to push Ward way behind.
