World No. 23 Juan Ignacio Chela leads Albert Montanes 4-1 in the series, having recorded all four wins on clay.
Chela advanced to the final four by virtue of his 6-3, 6-4 victory over 7th seed Marcel Granollers. The 31-year-old Argentine is bidding for his second clay-court final this season, adding to a previous runner-up finish in Buenos Aires.
World No. 50 Albert Montanes defeated Santiago Giraldo in the quarterfinal, 6-1, 7-6(0). The 30-year-old Spaniard looks to make his first final since Stuttgart 2010.
Robin Haase vs. Joao Souza
World No. 53 Robin Haase secured two match wins on Thursday, having upended both second seed Feliciano Lopez and 6th seed Andreas Seppi to make the semifinal. The 24-year-old Dutchman will attempt to reach his first ATP World Tour final Friday afternoon.
World No. 110 Joao Souza continued his run with a 6-3, 6-4 upset of 8th seed Pablo Andujar. The 23-year-old Brazilian remains on course to make his first Tour-level championship final.
