Rogers Cup: Djokovic faces Cilic for quarterfinal berth
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic looks to continue his Rogers Cup run, as he squares off against Marin Cilic Thursday afternoon. The players are set to vie for a spot among the final eight.
Top seed Novak Djokovic holds a 5-0 series advantage over round of 16 opponent Marin Cilic. The World No. 1 has surrendered only one set through five completed hard-court matches.
Djokovic overcame a slow start during his opener with former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko. After bridging a 1-4 deficit in the first set, the 24-year-old came back to seal the match 7-5, 6-1. He is bidding for his 50th match win this season.
World No. 29 Marin Cilic defeated 16th seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the second round, 6-3, 6-4. The 22-year-old remains on course to record his 30th victory of the season.
