Top-seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia proved too hot for Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the third -round match of the 2011 US Open. The Serbian registered a comprehensive 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Davydenko and marched into the fourth-round, here at Flushing Meadows. In the pre-quarterfinals, Djokovic will take on Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine , who ousted Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

With two early breaks in the first set Djokovic raced to 4-1 lead but both men traded another break before Djokovic held serve at love to win the first set. Davydenko tried to put up a fight in the second set but Djokovic broke him again in the seventh game to go 2-0 up in the match. The Serbian raced to 5-1 lead in third set and closed it 6-2.

In the women's section of draw, former World no 1 Ana Ivanovic dispatched American teenager Sloane Stephens 6-3, 6-4.

“I think with all the work I've done, you do gain confidence,” said Ivanovic. “Obviously when you win, you have more confidence, you enjoy competing much more. That's something that I gain back. It makes a big difference because you don't doubt so much when you step on the court and you can play a lot freer.”
