Roddick and Ferrer battle in the fourth round
Roddick and Ferrer battle in the fourth round American fan favorite Andy Roddick will take on tough Spaniard David Ferrer for a spot in the US Open quarters.
A win against David Ferrer is going to be a stretch for Andy Roddick. Ferrer has the sort of patient game that often lures Roddick into making poor shot selections and ultimately unforced errors.Ferrer is the ultimate baseline grinder. The Spanish No. 5 seed has impressive athleticism that allows him to defend seemingly endlessly.
Roddick will surely have the support of the partisan New York crowd, but the American hasn’t enjoyed his best form this summer. He had a scratchy opening round match last week against Michael Russell, but he was better against Jack Sock and Julien Benneteau in the third round.
Ferrer had a little rust in his first set of the tournament against Igor Andreev, but the Spaniard has been solid ever since.
