ATP US Open 2011 Preview: Andy Murray vs. Donald Young
Andy Murray looks to make the US Open quarters for the first time in three years when he plays Donald Young tonight.
It's hard to believe Young is still only 22. It feels like the left-hander has been around for ever given he first sprang to international prominence after winning the Aussie Open junior title back at the tender age of 15.His struggle to live up to expectations has been well documented but he's finally begun to make a breakthrough this season enjoying some superb wins. He thrilled Flushing Meadows with a five set win over Stanislas Wawrinka in the last round and Murray is well aware of his threat.
"He's talented, so he can hit winners from all parts of the court," the fourth seed said. "That's why he's dangerous. He comes forward pretty well, he volleys good, he's got nice feel around the net and he's got quite easy power, which can be sometimes difficult. Guys look like they're not winding up to hit a big shot, and he can create quite a lot of power. He's got a big first serve when he goes for it, but he can be a little bit inconsistent as well."
They met in Indian Wells earlier in the year and a very distracted looking Murray made an inconspicuous exit, memories he's keen to erase.
"I was in a pretty bad place around Indian Wells, Miami time," he said. "It was a tough, tough part of the year for me. It's not so much revenge against Donald, it's more for the situation I was in there and making sure that I can move on from that."
