Rain spoils second-consecutive day at US Open
Heavy torrential rain, followed up by light showers spoiled the entire schedule of play on Wednesday at US Open. All the men's matches, which were scheduled to be played on Wednesday, have been cancelled.
For a second consecutive day, rain played the spoil sport at US Open. All the men's matches at the U.S. Open that were scheduled to be played on Wednesday were cancelled due to heavy rain.Three fourth-round matches started but quickly went off and then the rain forced the match officials to suspend them. When these matches were suspended, defending champion Rafael Nadal was trailing by 0-3 to Gilles Muller 3-0, Andy Roddick was leading David Ferrer 3-1 and Andy Murray was trailing Donald Young 2-1, with Nadal, Roddick and Murray serving.
On the other hand, quarterfinals matches between Roger Federer vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic vs. Janko Tipsarevic were also cancelled. All the matches in Women’s quarterfinals, which were scheduled to be played on Wednesday night, were also cancelled.
