Nadal eases into round three

Written by Diana on 13 October 2011.

Rafael Nadal has worked his way into round three of the Shanghai Rolex Masters.

Rafael Nadal booked his place in round three of the Shanghai Rolex Masters on Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-3 success against Guilermo Garcia-Lopez. The world No. 2 is searching for his first hard court title of the season here, and he’ll be glad to still be in contention to win this prestigious event.

Nadal will also be pleased with this result, as he was beaten by Garcia-Lopez twelve months ago in the PTT Thailand Open. In this match, Nadal earned 26 break point opportunities, and unbelievably only managed to take two of them.

After Wednesday’s match, Nadal revealed, "[It] was tough [to] lose last year in Bangkok, less painful because I came after winning the U.S Open, but probably was the more unbelievable loss in my career against him, because I never had as many chances as I had in that match, and I lost.”

“I didn't play my best match [today], but is unbelievable the conditions how can change from Tokyo to here."
