Murray faces Ferrer for Shanghai title An in-form Andy Murray will have a chance to complete the Asian treble on Sunday, as he takes to the court against 3rd seed David Ferrer. The players are set to contest their eighth career meeting for the Shanghai Masters championship title.

Defending champion Andy Murray holds a narrow 4-3 series edge against finals opponent David Ferrer. The two are meeting for the third time in 2011, with the Scot having won both of their hard-court matches.

Murray advanced to the championship final by virtue of his comfortable win over Kei Nishikori of Japan. The 24-year-old needed just 57 minutes to record a 6-3, 6-0 semifinal victory. He is bidding for his fifth ATP World Tour title this season.

Should Murray post a championship win in Shanghai, he will eclipse Roger Federer as world No. 3 on Monday.

Ferrer rallied to upend fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the semifinals, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3. The 29-year-old won his third consecutive three-set match, having downed both Juan Carlos Ferrero and Andy Roddick earlier in the week.

He will attempt to win his third ATP World Tour title of the year.
