Koellerer gets court date to fight fixing life ban

Written by Diana on 16 October 2011.

Tennis player Daniel Koellerer will appeal his lifetime ban for match-fixing at the highest court in world sports next month.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Koellerer will challenge his sanction on Nov. 28-29 against the men’s and women’s tours, International Tennis Federation and the sport’s Grand Slam Committee.

The tennis bodies collectively set up the Tennis Integrity Unit which banned the 28-year-old Austrian in May.

Koellerer was the first player to get a life ban for corruption after being found guilty of three violations between October 2009 and July 2010.

His ranking peaked at No. 55 in October 2009.
