Fair or Foul? Caroline Wozniacki Imitates Rafael Nadal’s Presser Cramping
After his win on Sunday, the Spaniard cramped up, grimaced and began moaning in pain in front of the cameras and dozens of reporters. He later brushed off the incident and said he was "just have cramping in my leg."
As is often the case whenever an athlete makes an attempt at humor, some people thought it was inappropriate for her to poke fun at Nadal, while others thought it was simply a funny joke.
Besides, it's not like Wozniacki hasn't cracked jokes at a Grand Slam before. In a press conference shortly before Wimbledon, she surreptitiously made her way into the interview room at the All England Club and asked Novak Djokovic about his "losing streak of one." Everyone in the room, including Djokovic, got a kick out of it.
After her three-hour win last night, the No. 1 seed Wozniacki now plays Andrea Petkovic in the quarterfinals tomorrow.
“I’m just looking forward,” Wozniacki said. “I still think I’ve had a great year. You know, I’m playing good tennis. Again, I’m happy. I love playing here in New York. It’s a great tournament for me. I love playing out there in the night session, Arthur Ashe, it’s a really great feeling. So definitely a boost to be out there again.”
Wozniacki was a finalist at the US Open in 2009.
UPDATE
Caroline has tweeted a note about the incident: “Had a bit of fun last night b4 my press conference.Hope it was not taken the wrong way. I have the upmost respect and admiration of Rafa!!!!”
Do you have a problem with Wozniacki's imitation?
