WTA Beijing Open: Caroline Wozniacki vs. Jarmila Gajdosova

Caroline Wozniacki will continue her charge for the China Open title on Tuesday with a second round matchup against Jarmila Gajdosova.

Caroline Wozniacki made a stuttering start to this year’s China Open, but was able to recover from a set down to beat Lucie Hradecka 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 in the first round. Wozniacki didn’t produce one of her best performances against Hradecka, but she did well to punish the Czech’s second serve.

The world No. 1 is now scheduled to take on Jarmila Gajdosova on Tuesday in round two. Gajdosova made a fine start to her campaign on Saturday, easing past Anabel Medina Garrigues in straight sets (6-3, 6-0). The Australian was ruthless against Medina Garrigues, taking six of seven break point opportunities.

Wozniacki beat Gajdosova last week in Tokyo, but she needed three sets to finish the job. The Dane has beaten Gajdosova in all of the four matches between the pairing, and it looks like the world No. 34 is getting better at dealing with her. That said, Wozniacki should be able to make it five in a row against the Aussie on Tuesday.
